Maura began her film career as an actor, graduating from The School for Film and Television's (now known as NYCDA) conservatory program. After spending one year acting she began noticing the people on the other side of the camera and became increasingly interested. She began interning at Gigantic Pictures, a New York based Production Company, and was hired shortly thereafter. During her time there she was also in development and pre-production with Palehorse Productions on a short film inspired by The Tell-Tale Heart. She left Gigantic to shoot the film and begin freelancing in production working as a production coordinator and now as a production manager. She considers herself an amateur photographer and her love for this has lead her to consider working in a more creative realm of the film industry. She is currently in development on a number of projects including one book adaptation.

Update: Winter's Bone won this 2010 Sundance grand jury prize and is currently being distributed worldwide, Ceremony's US rights were just picked up by Magnolia.
